![]() ![]() In this delightfully wacky and fun story, we discover that sometimes what makes us outcasts from the world are the very things that make us special. Hell-bent on making contact, Ryder gets a sneak peek into the quirky world of April when she stuffs all of her fingers in her mouth and faints the first time he talks to her. Until that one morning that Ryder catches her looking into his bedroom window… and she becomes all but anonymous in his eyes. She has also spent the past few years eavesdropping on the Blacks’ morning fights. But it’s his knack for getting into fights that makes him notorious.ĭorky, clumsy, and just plain odd-April Hale talks like Yoda, eats her food based on the day of the week, and prefers binge watching TV shows to partying. Surprisingly, he’s impressively academic, too. HumorĬhronicle In Favor Of Books The Quirky Tale of April Hale Tall, dark, and mysterious-Ryder Black is everything a girl wants. RAW has made running my business so much easier with scheduling jobs, running payroll, and having a repository that allows you to keep everything in one place at the touch of your fingers. If you know how to use a computer, this is the software you want to buy. I have seen many changes through the couple of years I’ve been on RAW, and this is a very user-friendly software. What I like about this system the most, is if you put in a request to add something to suit your needs, simply request your “wish list” and they do everything to make it happen for you. They are very well-trained and will address your questions right away. I’ve done my research, and I highly recommend RAW. As the owner of a boutique court reporting company, this software is an asset. I needed a software to suit court reporting needs and not have to spend hours of learning new software. I’ve been in business as Express Court Reporting, Inc. I went on RAW in June of 2014 and never looked back. ![]() ![]() The final story is an especially bleak tale about a telethon to benefit an average guy named Jerry, who has no idea he is the star. ![]() There is also a callback to the first story, in the form of a reference to Uncle Ray and his nicotine addiction. They are interspersed with illustrations, including a fairly tasteful depiction of the horrific onscreen snake attack. “Late Night Splashes” tells the story of a late night TV host named Mack Benson, largely though text pages narrated from the point of view of various characters. The Ice Cream Man makes a couple of brief appearances (as a plastic figurine and a snowman), but it is otherwise a serious story with a call for donation to Planned Parenthood in the last frame. “Advent Calendar” depicts a desperate young pregnant woman deciding what to do–via the daily small gifts from an Advent calendar. A kind of happy ending, despite the overall bleakness of the story. Private detective Ray Kowalski is hired to find one of them, and what he finds is enough to convince him to turn his life around and save his failing marriage. ![]() “The Big Sweet” is about a cult that is apparently murdering ice cream men. ![]() Maxwell Prince, writer Martín Morazzo, art Chris O’Halloran, colorsĪnother collection of four diverse tales about the world of the Ice Cream Man. ![]() ![]() ![]() James included when it came to Sidney and Vaughn’s jobs. It Happened One Wedding is incredibly well-written and I really appreciated the level of detail Ms. There’s a lot of push-pull in their developing relationship, and once in a while I wanted to shake Sidney and Vaughn to force them to be honest with themselves and each other about what they feel, but each had their reasons for being gun-shy about opening up. Thrown together thanks to family, the sexual tension between Vaughn and Sidney slowly builds until it explodes in the most wickedly entertaining of ways. Though their initial “meet-cute” ends with Sidney writing him off, she can’t exactly do that once she learns that his brother is marrying her sister. He may have charm and good looks on his side, but he’s a playboy at heart with no desire to get involved in a serious relationship. FBI Special Agent Vaughn Roberts is not that kind of man. Sidney’s an intelligent, successful director at a private equity firm who’s thirty-three and determined to find the right man, one she can trust with her heart, a guy she can settle down and have a family with. ![]() ![]() Author Julie James has blended snark with substance and heat with heart to create a wonderfully entertaining story you won’t want to put down. It Happened One Wedding is both smart and sexy – my favorite kind of romance. My review cross-posted from Wit and Sin: ![]() ![]() This book isn’t a read, it’s an adventure and it’s one that had our hearts racing, breaking, filling with love and brimming with warmth. ![]() The minute we closed that book we hoped Amy Harmon would write more and she did! Now, a year later, we’ve just finished devouring The Queen and the Cure, and again, we’re left in absolute awe of this lady’s incredible ability to take us into her world and feed our imaginations, sweeping us up in her captivating story, unable to move for a minute and unwilling to leave her world, becoming completely lost in this story mesmerised until the last page was read. It was a year ago when Amy Harmon first led us into her Fantasy world in The Bird and the Sword in which she enchanted us with the charming magic and beauty of her vivid storytelling. I think…once…I must have been, because I know how to love.” (Note: Possible spoilers for The Bird and the Sword) ![]() ![]() Now, at 57, she has recalled that early, electric time in her new book, The Way Forward Is With a Broken Heart, a work that, in the way it deals with relations between the races, could hardly be more timely for a nation whose new President attracted only 8 per cent of the black vote and who owes his position, many feel, to the disenfranchisement of the black voter in Florida. Walker and Leventhal parted in some pain in 1976, she eventually to fame and esteem with The Colour Purple and a successful writing career in California, he to a big law practice on the east coast and a new marriage and family. That was it, too, for young Leventhal, and this was to herald the love affair which led to a wedding in 1967 and a 'movement' child, herself now with her own self-reflective new book just published. ![]() ![]() ![]() On the other hand, I do like his potentially demonic origins, and I think that could be an interesting twist in the story. Wrath sounds like just the kind of character that could fall into that creepy, romanticized bully of a love interest that happens all too often in YA fantasy (see: the Darkling from Shadow and Bone, Cardan from The Cruel Prince, Mirnatius from Spinning Silver, etc.), so I’m a little hesitant. However, this whole “prince of Hell” could go either way. ![]() Something about it is making me think of Serpent & Dove, which I liked, so hopefully that’s a good sign. What’s hooking me here is the premise of a witch-centric murder mystery! I love the idea of Emilia attempting to avenge her sister and all of the other murdered witches, and it seems like something that could move the plot steadily along and make for some suspense. There are a few things that are making me think that parts of this book could go wrong very quickly, but I’m willing to stick around and see what happens. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Pg In "Escaping the Giant Wave" by Peg Kehret, how many people did not survive?
